zenon Web Server

This page is a simple example of how web access to a Runtime system can be set up using zenon Web Server.

System Requirements

The zenon Web Client can be used by different browsers. The following browsers are supported (Windows only):

• Microsoft Internet Explorer
• Mozilla Firefox
• Google Chrome
• Apple Safari

VBA / VSTA

The operating system uses Data Execution Prevention (DEP) to prevent VBA code being executed in the browser. You can find more detailed information on deactivating Data Execution Prevention in the zenon documentation in the 'Web Server' chapter.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

In order to ensure optimum operation of the zenon Web Clients, the Web Server must be added to the list of trusted site under Internet options -> Security.

 

Installation of the zenon Web Client

The zenon Web Client setup must first be downloaded and run in order to use the zenon Web Client. Once this has been installed, a connection to the zenon Web Server can be made.

General structure

The zenon Web Client must be installed in order to display zenon projects in the browser.

Info: The zenon Web Client has to be of the same version (e.g. 7.60 SP0) as the zenon Runtime server.

In order for the zenon Web Client to be able to make a connection to the zenon Runtime server, some configuration parameters (version info, project name, name of the zenon Web Server PC, name of the zenon Runtime server PC) must be amended in the configuration file on the web server (\config\global_vars.js). You can edit this file with a standard text editor (Notepad).
